For many, studying means independence, freedom, and the prospect of new opportunities. It is a phase of life in which responsibilities still seem manageable and the 'serious side of life' has not quite begun. Yet this is not the case for all students. According to the German Student Services Organisation (Deutsches Studierendenwerk), around 16 per cent of students in Germany have a condition that makes studying more difficult, such as physical disabilities or chronic and mental health conditions.
