Prof. Nicholas Müller (socio-informatics) explains, in the #FHWSPodcast, how people with a visual impairment can nevertheless perceive emotions during a conversation.

For healthy people, it is completely normal to pay attention to the listener’s facial expressions in a conversation. If their forehead creases, you know immediately that what you said was not understood. But what do people with visual impairments do? They are lacking this information, which can often lead to misunderstandings. This is precisely where Prof. Nicholas Müller, professor for socio-informatics, wants to help with the “vibrotactile emotion recognition” project. Artificial intelligence, among other things, plays a major role in this.

You can learn exactly what “vibrotactile emotion recognition” means and how the whole thing is implemented in practice in our #FHWSPodcast.
