A car driver overtakes too closely, kerbs are not lowered, and the cycle lane is too narrow. Cyclists in Würzburg face these and similar challenges time and time again. But until now, such experiences have been nothing more than anecdotes. Bike boxes are now used to back up these reports with quantitative data and thus make cycling in Würzburg safer. One of the guests, Trade Journalism student Louise Steinebach talked to, was the head of the project Professor Dr. Nicholas Müller of the Institute of Design and Information Systems at THWS about the importance of collecting empirical data to increase the safety of cyclists in cities.
