Do plastics pollute the environment? In our #FHWSPodcast., Prof. Dr. Volker Herrmann and Prof. Ansgar Jaeger explain why plastics, of all materials, is a suitable material to take on the challenges climate change presents.
Microplastics in the oceans, plastic waste on beaches and at the roadsides. At first glance, plastic as a material does not look particularly well. The degree programme in Plastics and Rubber Engineering at FHWS is conducting intense research on this material and proves the opposite. A research focus lies on the recycling of plastics. In the new technology transfer centre Smart Polymer Pipe Solutions in Haßfurt, the application of pipes made of plastic is being researched for various fields of work of the future. Why the application of plastics can even reduce CO2 emissions and which other projects FHWS students are currently working on is explained by the two professors of the degree programme in this episode of the #FHWSPodcast.
